Role overview
As Senior Accountant you will be a foundational part of Acorn’s finance function. You will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the company and supporting ongoing growth. You’ll own core accounting functions, assist in scaling internal processes, ensure timely financial reporting, and help implement systems that will support our expanding operations.
We are open to individuals based in Vancouver, BC noting this is an in-office role.

Here are the 5 capabilities for our Senior Accountant to give you an idea of what the role entails, and the level we are looking for from it:
1) Financial Reporting and Analysis
Proficient Level: Manages complex financial reporting, ensuring compliance and accuracy. Provides clear analysis and communicates insights that impact business decisions. Aligns reporting outcomes with strategic goals.
2) Process and System Optimization
Proficient Level: Leads process improvement initiatives, ensuring optimized workflows and reliable data integrity. Implements new systems or upgrades to support financial operations.
3) Business Partnering and Stakeholder Engagement
Developing Level: Provides financial input to departmental discussions. Builds relationships with stakeholders to understand their goals and provides relevant insights.
4) Risk Management and Compliance
Developing Level: Manages standard compliance tasks, updating internal controls as necessary. Begins to identify and report risks within their area of responsibility.
5) Budgeting and Forecasting
Developing Level: Prepares budgets and forecasts for specific departments, adjusting based on input from business units. Begins to refine models based on results.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Own the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting, with a strong focus on IFRS 15 revenue recognition
- Manage the full Accounts Receivable cycle: generate invoices, oversee collections, and maintain effective communication with customers
- Oversee the Accounts Payable process, including vendor invoice processing and employee expense management
- Support on tax registrations and filings, both input and corporate
- Support audit processes and prepare audit schedules and documentation
Systems & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintaining internal controls and scalable business processes
- Help manage and maintain the integrity of financial and customer data across systems (CRM, ERP), including configuration and integration tasks
- Work cross-functionally with the customer success team on the renewals processes
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
- Assist with budgeting, reporting, and forecasting
- Support the calculation, analysis, and reporting of key SaaS metrics
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and project support as needed
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting with a CPA designation (or in progress)
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting the month-end close process
- Strong understanding of GAAP and SaaS-specific accounting principles; IFRS experience preferred
- Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems (NetSuite, Intacct, or similar)
- Experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce or HubSpot and their integration with finance systems
- Hands-on experience managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes
- Proven track record of building and owning scalable processes within finance and across the business
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
