About Acorn PLMS: At Acorn PLMS, we are on a mission to transform the corporate learning experience. Our cutting-edge Performance Learning Management System (PLMS) software is powered by AI and designed to ensure that what people learn directly contributes to their exceptional performance in business. Corporate performance and learning needs a revolution, and Acorn PLMS is the antidote. We are the only solution that guides learners step by step to master the specific capabilities required for their roles, ultimately accelerating organisational performance. As we scale, we are committed to building an innovative and meaningful people experience that reflects who we are - dynamic, supportive, and performance-driven.

We are open to individuals based in Canberra or Sydney, Australia (this is an in-office role).

Role overview:

With rapid plans to scale our team, we’re looking for an energetic and highly organised Talent Acquisition Associate to join Acorn’s growing team. In this role, your primary focus will be recruitment - you’ll help us attract, engage, and hire top talent across all teams, while also supporting the Director of People & Operations with people initiatives that enhance our employee experience. This role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years’ experience in talent or HR who’s excited to grow in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

You’ll be the engine behind our hiring success - coordinating recruitment processes and sourcing top talent, while also supporting our Director of People & Operations on more general team and company initiatives, from onboarding to internal systems and team events. This is a unique opportunity to develop both your talent acquisition skills and your operational toolkit in a role with high visibility and real impact.

5 key capabilities:

The best part… we use our Acorn software at Acorn. We believe in the power of our Managers and Staff being aligned on the 5 capabilities needed for each role, and the level that we expect for any given role, using our Acorn AI tool to streamline this consistently across our business. The 5 levels comprise Foundational, Developing, Proficient, Advanced and Expert.

Here are the 5 capabilities for our Talent Acquisition Associate to give you an idea of what the role entails:

  1. Talent Coordination & Sourcing: Effectively coordinates recruitment processes and supports candidate sourcing under guidance. Proficient level: Manages pipelines and scheduling well; proactively sourcing and screening candidates with confidence.
  2. Candidate & Employee Experience: Delivers a smooth and professional experience to candidates and employees across key touchpoints. Developing level: Understands the importance of experience and is learning how to elevate key moments like interviews and onboarding.
  3. Stakeholder Partnership: Builds positive relationships and communicates clearly with hiring managers, candidates, and team members. Developing level: Seeks clarity when needed; developing confidence in partnering with stakeholders on hiring and team processes.
  4. People & Ops Execution: Supports people and ops processes with a focus on accuracy, documentation, and follow-through. Developing level: Executes well-defined tasks independently and is building capability in handling more complex requests and processes.
  5. Adaptability & Growth Mindset: Demonstrates a willingness to learn, adapt, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment. Developing level: Open to feedback and actively developing skills across the broader People & Ops function.

Key responsibilities:

Working in conjunction with the Director of People & Operations, the key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Coordinate recruitment for a range of roles across Product, Engineering, Customer, and Go-To-Market teams – primarily in Australia but also for our growing team in Vancouver
  • Draft job ads, manage postings, screen applicants, and schedule interviews
  • Partner with hiring managers and the Director of People & Ops to support seamless hiring processes
  • Proactively source candidates via LinkedIn and other channels
  • Support onboarding and offboarding logistics, including documentation, equipment, and system access
  • Assist in planning internal communications, team events, and engagement initiatives
  • Help maintain people records and documentation for compliance and reporting
  • Contribute to People & Ops projects such as process mapping, office coordination, or HRIS improvements

Experience:

  • 2–3 years of experience in recruitment, HR, or operations—agency or in-house
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable using tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, Microsoft Teams, and ATS platforms
  • Friendly, proactive, and solutions-focused—you get things done and look for ways to improve
  • Eager to build your skills across people and operational processes in a fast-moving company
  • Experience in a SaaS or tech environment is a bonus, but not required

Why join Acorn PLMS?

  • Join a mission-driven SaaS company helping organisations unlock learning and performance
  • Be part of a supportive People & Ops team where you’ll grow and contribute from day one
  • Get hands-on with meaningful work across recruitment, people experience, and internal operations
  • Work from Sydney or Canberra, with regular team offsites and socials
  • Great team culture focused on learning, performance, and building something that matters

Location:

We are open to individuals based in Sydney or Canberra, Australia. We are an office-first company, meaning we work from our local offices the majority (if not all) of the time. We want to create cool stuff with great people, and we know from experience that is best done through daily moments like the coffee run, walk to grab lunch, or quick huddles.

Being able to capitalise on this is key to our ongoing success and a large part of the reason we can work at the pace we do. Please note candidates will need to be in commuting distance to our offices based in the Canberra and Sydney CBD.

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia to be considered for this role. Unfortunately we are unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time.

Our recruitment process

Acorn is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. We aim to ensure that our recruitment process is fair and accessible to everyone and encourage candidates to request any accommodations needed during the application or interview stages.
