Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Providing technical leadership on high-impact projects: You will be a go-to expert for complex technical challenges within the Cloud Platform. You will design, develop, and implement solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible in the cloud
  • Shaping the future of Canva Cloud: You will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic roadmap for Cloud Platform. Your insights and experience will be invaluable in identifying and driving new initiatives that keep our cloud solutions at the forefront of cloud technology
  • Influencing and mentoring a distributed team of engineers: You will mentor and guide engineers of all levels of seniority, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where knowledge sharing and continuous learning are paramount. Your deep technical expertise will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of the team
  • Owning and driving architectural decisions: You will take ownership of critical architectural decisions for new and existing Cloud Platform services. Your ability to design scalable, maintainable, and reliable systems will ensure the long-term success of our products
  • Empowering others: You will inspire infrastructure teams to innovate, invent, implement and deploy complex software solutions in a complex distributed and mission-critical environment
  • Actively participating in building the next generation of Canvanauts: You will play a key role in selecting the right candidates through effective interviews, succession planning, and improvements to company-wide processes
  • Be a force for good: You will promote a safe and healthy culture with a focus on collaboration and open communication

You're probably a match if

  • You have proven experience (7+ years) as a Software Engineer with a track record of delivering complex, large-scale software projects in the cloud; and are happy to code in Golang, Python (and/or Java); as this role has significant hands-on responsibilities.
  • You have deep expertise in cloud platforms, with a strong understanding of distributed systems, containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes) as well as public cloud providers (AWS must, GCP nice-to-have) and broad infrastructure functions (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, automation, site reliability, security, etc)
  • You have excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
  • You have a passion for staying current with the latest cloud technologies and trends
  • You have a no-blame mentality, you lead by example and promote Canva and Engineering values
