About the role:

As a Business Development Manager – Commercial Broker, you will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with large Commercial Broking firms, providing business solutions to meet their specific needs. You will support brokers in terms of application support, business development, credit qualification with a focus on increasing share of wallet for both Cashflow & Asset Finance Shift products.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build, develop, and maintain strong, long-term relationships with large Commercial broking firms as designated.

  • Proactively engage with brokers to understand their portfolio and opportunities.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for brokers, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Regularly review client portfolios to identify opportunities for growth and offer additional products and services.

Business Development:

  • Identify new business opportunities and drive growth within your network

  • Work closely with the brokers and marketing to target potential clients in various sectors.

  • Attend industry events and networking opportunities

Commercial Solutions:

  • Assess and understand client needs to offer solutions, including cashflow & asset finance Shift products.

  • Review transaction scenarios as needed to ensure they are aligned to Shift’s credit appetite.

  • Write credit memorandums for complex transactions

  • Conduct risk assessments and financial analysis to ensure proposals are aligned with the Shift’s credit appetite including lodging Credit Assessments on transactions above $1m

Market Knowledge & Advisory:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, market conditions, and competitor information impacting commercial brokers.

Target Achievement & Reporting:

  • Achieve individual targets and contribute to the overall performance of Shift.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on client performance, market conditions, and business development activities.

  • Use CRM systems and other tools to track client interactions and progress toward business goals.

Skills & Experience required

  • 3 years + Sales/BDM experience, preferably within commercial finance.

  • Extensive understanding of the Bank/Finance credit

  • Extensive understanding of financial statements

  • Proven ability to build long term relationships within the broker network.

  • Previous experience with a big 4 bank is desirable

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication

  • Strong sales acumen

  • Effective Stakeholder management

  • Strong Credit skills

  • Exceptional rapport building skills
