We are seeking an data engineer to join Orkestra's growth team. This role is ideal for a university graduate, someone with 1-2 years of experience in a similar role or someone looking for a career change.
Location: Remote with Australian, but ideally in Hobart or Melbourne.

Our software helps users deploy new energy projects, such as solar, batteries, and electric vehicles, by allowing them to model many project options to find and sell the best one for them.
We are the market leader in Australia, with most tier 1 and 2 energy and solar companies working in commercial and industrial sector using our software.
We are seeking an data engineer for our company's growth team. This role will work directly in supporting Orkestra to enter into and rapidly grow in new international markets.
About the Role
As Data Engineer - Energy & Growth, you will play a crucial role in supporting Orkestra's international expansion. Your responsibilities will include analysing and entering energy and network tariff data into Orkestra by writing code for data scraping, cleaning, and preparation. These tasks are critical for unlocking new markets. You will also use data to create and optimise automated customer interactions, and have opportunities to implement AI optimisation and tools in Orkestra.
Reporting to the Co-CEO and Head of Growth, you will work closely with the growth team. This means that alongside your analytical work, you’ll be working with customers to support them to use Orkestra proficiently and contributing to Orkestra’s roadmap and growth strategy.
This is intended to be a generalist role working with the growth team and customers, and but doing technical and data engineering tasks. As your career progresses, we can support you to move into more technical or commercial roles as you desire.
Orkestra’s team can either be 100% remote or hybrid in our Hobart or Melbourne office. You'll need to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and be comfortable undertaking a wide variety of tasks that goes beyond your day-to-day responsibilities.
About You
This role will suit you if you:
Have proficiency in Python and experience with data scraping, cleaning, and preparation.
Enjoy working with customers and helping others.
Have strong analytical skills. Experience with energy and/or energy tariff data is preferred but not essential.
Interest in AI optimisations and tools to write code and create automations.
Have a highly collaborative working style and can work effectively within a team.
Have excellent communication skills and can convey complex information clearly.
Are self-disciplined, love learning, have a positive attitude, and can work independently.
Are passionate about clean technologies, sustainability and energy.
Have a university degree or 1-2 years of experience in electrical, power systems or energy engineering, software engineering or similar relevant field.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Build and maintain libraries of international energy and network tariff data in Orkestra (we will train you in this function.)
Support customers to use Orkestra effectively directly and with automated tools
Write Python code and use other tools for data scraping, cleaning, and preparation.
Use data to create and optimise automated customer interactions using Orkestra’s growth technology stack.
Opportunities to explore AI optimisation and tools in Orkestra, particularly in relation to coding, sales and customer support.
Collaborate with the growth team to contribute to the growth strategy.
