About The Role

The Operational Risk Analyst is a foundational role within the Risk team, reporting to the Head of Risk. This junior-level position is focused on supporting the effective execution of day-to-day risk and compliance activities across Superhero’s business, including our investments and superannuation offerings.

Working cross-functionally, the Operational Risk Analyst helps maintain key risk artefacts, supports incident and issue management workflows, and assists with regulatory obligations and reporting. The role plays a key part in embedding risk awareness across business processes, contributing to a strong, scalable risk culture.

This role is suited to someone who is detail-oriented, analytically minded, and eager to grow within a high-performing, mission-driven team

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update operational risk registers, controls libraries, and key risk indicators (KRIs) in line with Superhero’s framework.
  • Support the design and documentation of risk assessments across business units, ensuring outputs are accurate and practical.
  • Assist in the testing and evaluation of internal controls and document findings clearly and consistently.
  • Prepare inputs for risk reporting dashboards and committee papers.
  • Support the end-to-end incident management process, including logging, tracking, and coordinating resolution of operational incidents and near misses.
  • Monitor the implementation of remediation actions and ensure timely closure of issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis to identify improvements to controls and processes.
  • Assist in preparing information and data for trustee, APRA, and ASIC reporting obligations.
  • Contribute to maintaining registers for breaches, complaints, and obligations.
  • Support compliance monitoring activities as directed by the Head of Operational Risk.
  • Work closely with Product, Operations, Legal and Technology to ensure risk insights are integrated into project delivery and business-as-usual activities.
  • Help embed risk thinking into daily operations by supporting training and awareness initiatives.

About You

  • You have 1–3 years experience in operational risk, compliance, audit or a related field (internships or grad roles welcome).
  • You’re familiar with APRA and ASIC requirements and have an interest in frameworks like CPS 230 and SPS 220.
  • You’re detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a knack for spotting patterns or issues in data.
  • You communicate clearly both in writing and when explaining your thinking to others.
  • You’re organised and reliable, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and follow through.
  • You enjoy working as a part of a team and aren’t afraid to ask questions or offer help.
  • You’re eager to learn, open to feedback, and motivated to grow in a fast-moving environment
